CB’s contract is so cheap - no way we trade him. I get it that Watson’s rise is hurting his - but he needs to man up and re-engage. The contract is too good to trade him. We’re not the “nice guy” TC office anymore. well, I wouldn't trade Braun out of charity. I would trade him for an upgrade though and FO should at least entertain that idea.

Sophmore slump is a thing for a reason Watson is basically a rookie. So lets not sell his stock in one year lol The impact isn't there from CB defensively. That's the issue. He's guarding lesser players too this year. Also a major confidence issue. Who said sophmore slump only applies on offense

You do realize we are capped out, I hope. So what can you get for CB’s salary that would be an upgrade? Or even CB packaged with Zeke? I think there isn’t a trade to be making.

I'd happily and gladly use Reggie Jackson as trade filler for a legit 6th man like Caruso. and unlike Reggie, you can actually play him with Jamal and not suck.
Caruso/Watson and a buyout candidate like Gallo. there's your bench for your repeat run.

ESPN trade machine rejects all possible trades for Caruso and even for Caruso/Drummomd, which I’m surprised you didn’t recommend. Besides, who is our backup PG in your dream scenario? It’s not Caruso, and Pickett is our only remaining PG on our regular roster bench.

I prefer Gallo to be honest. more intelligent basketball and plays the Uncle Jeff role (timely buckets, timely charges etc) better than Drummond, who isn't that important with Jokic playing practically the entire game.
I didn't check the trade machine but I'm not be surprised. the new punitive tax rules + the inexplicably bad decision to give Zeke a rookie extension is going to make a trade very difficult. in that case, I would look to trade Braun for a player like Lonnie Walker IV, also on a rookie deal (last year albeit) and not in the Nets long-term plans.

On that - I agree with you. Braun, plus Zeke or Reggie's contract actually gives us something to work with. And Braun is still a great prospect.

Just trade Tyson for a second to open a spot on roster, and pick up Gallo or other vet in buyout market.

I feel like second year slump is more of a thing for older rookies, and CB seems to validate that. He had the ball in his hands a lot more this season than last, so I wouldn’t blame other player’s minutes for his bad plays. To me it just looks like he’s trying to play outside of his abilities and then everything goes wrong for him.

Agreed very much. And IMO it is very expected. Like people and management based on a the few comments we got made it seem like he would/could replace BB of the jump

CB played very well in October and November. You all have short memories. He wasn't good in December and he's been worse in January but he has plenty of time to figure it out. Trust him to play through it.

Braun’s overall season is very similar to his rookie year, but with some improvements and one area of decline.
His PER is 11.5 this season versus 10.3 last year. Slight improvement. His WS/48 is .075 versus .079. About the same, which is disappointing only because we expected a leap. He’s improved as assist % from 6.4 to 9.9%. Good. He’s improved his TRB% from 8.8 to 10.5%. Good again. He’s improved his 3PT% from 35.4% to 36.0%. Room for further improvement to upper 30’s, I’d say.
Where CB has declined is in 2PT% which has dropped from 56.5% to 49.2%. Where does this come from? His efficiency from 0-3 feet is the same, around 72% which is good. Where he has struggled is from 3-10 feet which are 30% of his shot attempts versus 24% last year. His FG% from this distance has dropped from 42.0% to 30.1%. If he gets over his yips from this distance, he’s the same or a bit better player than last year overall.
He’s always been a high floor, lower ceiling guy. Watson was always lower floor, higher ceiling. Fortunately, we are seeing evidence of the latter.
