Needed every single one of those Jokic points.
Very ugly game for Murray and Gordon.

Jokic would be toasted by the end od season. No C can do it for the number of games Jokic plays. He would need to sit 22 games to give you 60 games like this He wouldn't though. He'd be able to rest a ton of 4Q and he scores so easily. What he did in the 1st half probably took nothing out of him. 42/12/8/3/1 with zero TO's on 75% FG and still had to play over 36mins. Jokic knows what he needs to do. He also knows that he will need to play 40mins in PO's and no C can do that without rest And this was against second worst team in nba

Nuggets fans should never bash Jokic when he is in cruise mode because availability, consistency and efficiency he has given us over the years gives him ALL the right in the world to pick and chose his spots and to load manage himself during the 82 game regular season. On the other hand, Nuggets fans SHOULD bash everyone else not named Nikola Jokic every game they s**t the bad because there is no single all star on this team.
Jokic deserves a full golden stature in front of a Ball arena TODAY if not yesterday.

The first statue outside Ball Arena should be Joe Sakic, and there can be no argument about that. Joe Sakic turned us from a loser sports town into a winner sports town.
Problem is, Joe is running the Avs and he'd never in a million years allow anyone to put up a statue of himself.

I've watched multiple opposing teams players come into Denver and get cheered for but to watch Jokic get that tonight in DC, reminded me how lucky we are to have him on the Nuggets.

Jokic went "all out" during the Murray ACL season and had an Embiid-like performance against the Suns.
the guys is the most unatheltic franchise player since Steve Nash, and Nash never had to score over 20PPG and essentially had the luxury of load managing himself throughout his 20s playing the "Murray" to Dirk. let fatman pace himself.

Joe Sakic turned us from a loser sports town into a winner sports town He was a big part of it for sure, but he also had Roy, Forsberg, Foote, Lemieux, Kamensky ... it wasn't like Jokic playing with Facu, but more like the Elway-TD-Sharpe-Smith-Atwater-Romo-etc Broncos teams that were good across the board, and he was the 1A player with a 1B and a 1C player at least. That was a *team* that deserved a lot of credit, but IDK if Sakic individually would get a statue so much as that the team deserves some kind of permanent exhibit. (Of course, his playing *and* management career has been remarkable, and quite possibly statue-worthy.) Jokic isn't a 1A. Not even with playoff Murray. I love Jamal, but it's not like finals MVP was a tough call. Joker is a "there will be a statue, it's just a matter of when they put it up" kind of player.

Jokic's first championship was definitely more of a solo effort but Sakic's greatness among Avalanche history stands alone as well and to mention names like Lemieux or Kamensky (I have their jerseys in my closet, so I love those guys) in a sentence with Sakic is sort of like mentioning Jeff Green alongside Joker. Roy's arguably the greatest goalie of all time, but half of that is because of what he did in Montreal. Forsberg was an equivalent talent but he was often hurt (including the 2001 Cup run) and left to play elsewhere, not to mention nowhere near the leader that Sakic was. At every point during his playing career Sakic was the unquestioned vocal and visual leader of the team and he was more individually responsible for creating and living up to the culture of excellence the Avs became known for than anyone including coaches or the Architect Pierre himself. Joe Sakic IS the Avalanche, even more than John Elway is the Broncos. Because there literally were no Avalanche before Joe. This is not to say that by the end of it all, Joker will not have surpassed Sakic in the overall Denver sports pantheon. My point was simply that Sakic getting a statue is long overdue. Freaking Dustin Brown has one outside Staples Center. Sakic is, easily, a top 20 all time NHL guy. There are over 40 individual statues of NHL players outside arenas right now, not counting any group statues. Jokic will definitely get a statue but it's absurd that Joe doesn't already have one. Roy should get one too, for that matter.

I don't want to diminish Sakic - I agree that he was actually top 20 - but Forsberg was the best player on that first Avs champ team.
I credit Elway with creating "winning" expectations in Denver.
That said - Ball Arena Statues:
Should have been there yesterday: Forsberg Sakic Roy
Future: Jokic Murray Mackinnon Cale
Borderline: Gabe Lan Foote Hastings & Marlowe (yes I said it) (hopefully AG and MPJ make this list)
I'm stunned we don't have statues of Sakic, Fors and Roy as yet.

Sakic had 120 points/50 goals/12.8 point shares in the regular season and 34 points/18 goals in the playoffs, plus the Conn Smythe. Forsberg had 116 points/30 goals/11.0 point shares in the regular season and 21 points/10 goals in the playoffs.
Sakic did it with lesser linemates, too (Claude and Val >>> Young and Deadmarsh)
