There is a new CBA looming next year. If Melo waits until the offseason instead of seeking a sign and trade, he stands to lose a lot of money.
So maybe we can just tell him that he won't be traded and the contract extension offer will be there.

It's going to hurt when the Nuggets are at home as Melo beats teams with clutch shots in the playoffs next year no matter how it turns out down the road. C ya Melo, thanks for lifting the Nuggs out of a decade of hell. Hopefully the WCF is not another decade away. I think we'll be surprised... As many games as I pounded my chest as Melo lifted us to victory (Suns, Wolves, Lakers in '06, Cavs this year), there are ten times as many where I found myself questioning.. "If Melo was on the other team, would I afford him the slack I'm giving him for being a Nugget?" He's a strong offensive talent, but it's been proven he can be solved in any given playoff series. We're a LONG way from 2002-2003, but then again.. I enjoyed the hell out of 17 of those games and I was rarely ashamed of the other 65.

Whether or not this is true I can't see how the owners are not going to push hard for some sort of "franchise" tag option for players after everything that has gone on so far this offseason.
I can't believe I probably have to make a new gif. I just made this one damnit.

What happened to that master plan the FO was working on HH? Have you ever come with any real inside information? Not just "this is a very tricky situation and I don't wanna say to much, but the Nuggets are looking to improve and you will all be amazed by the moves they will make" Well, whatever the Nuggs had been working on in terms of plans was pretty much thrown into the shitter when Melo decided he wanted out, wouldn't you say? Not much the FO can do by way of sticking to a blueprint when their franchise player turns his back on them and decides to bail.

Well, maybe you won't have to change it, you did put him in a Clippers uniform, which is a supposed team of interest in a future trade.

I have a bad feeling that for the Nuggets this is now about going into the lockout with next to nothing in payroll. It may turn out great in the long run when bargains are available by teams trying to adjust to the new CBA but it's a sad day when your perennial all star gets shown the door as he enters his prime regardless of the long term implications. It's going to hurt when the Nuggets are at home as Melo beats teams with clutch shots in the playoffs next year no matter how it turns out down the road. Until I see an article with a quote from Melo saying "I want to leave Denver" then ill believe it, but this article seems to be more speculation based on anonymous sources You'll see Hoophead admit he's Bearup before you'll see Melo quoted saying he wants out. Melo says that publicly and he's fined $25,000 by the league. See the recent fine levied on Rudy Fernandez. That's why he has an agent.

Melo's a legit star and it could be a long time before the nuggets get another player like him. But that ain't the whole story. The guy is a selfish knucklehead that would rather lose than cut off a drive or god forbid, take a charge. Maybe this will be the start of a new precedent for the nuggets. Play defense and hustle, or get the f**k off the court.

the Clips are the perfect partner
Minnesota's first rounder makes them the front-runner easily

I think you all better start looking at the Knicks Roster because LALA is a NYER for life. That is her dream and Melo is her dream maker.

How the f**k does trading Melo/JR/Billups, all expirings...for Martin/Brooks/Hill/Batter/Jeffries....save us any money, let alone 21 million? Kevin Martin alone is still due over 40 million....Melo/Billups/JR combined wouldn't even make that.
What he probably did was assume that both Billups' TO and Melo's PO would be picked up, just to help his point....which is f***ing retarded in my eyes, because that would never actually happen. f***ing a****** media fucks.
f**k Kevin Martin btw. I do like that the Clippers, Warriors, and Bobcats are getting thrown into the discussion. Just more teams with good prospects to up the return...whether they're actually involved or not.

Like I said before, if he doesn't want to be here, why should we want him here? All I care is the Nuggets get good value out of a trade. His value to the team, while big, has declined every year as the FO got better players around him, and last year they generally seemed to play better as a team and sharing the ball, despite the lesser talent, when he was out. As long as the team gets back a good young prospect and a couple of good picks and hard working role players, I'm optimistic for the future.

Not a huge fan of Simmons trade, if it was for melo/JR and we got back Brooks/Kev martin/Battier and NYKs pick I'd probably be ok, not sure why we'd give up Billups too, spin him or Brooks off later for a better piece elsewhere.

Yeah that makes no sense. How do we save money with that deal if we give up 3 expiring deals?
