I laugh at the karma thing for several reasons. Number one Guyz like smooke are so blunt that they piss a lot of guyz off, but his posts in general have proven to be some of the best on the board. Number Two. I think as all of the karma stuff has worn off we have lost interest in using it. It's almost meaningless and honestly if there isn't any level of accountability for it then why have it on the board??
On Broncos Freak and the Mane when you rep someone it tells them who you are and you even have the opportunity to tell them why you did what you did to their rep.
And I really agree with p7 on how we treat new posters. Let's try to keep new people coming rather than chasing them off. If they prove to be trolls then we can deal w/ them, but give a guy a chance to establish what he/she is about before you flame them off the board.

Oh come on, we have to rough-up the newbies, or else they'll try to gain our trust, take over the board, and eventually make-out with your sister. We also need to see if they're strong and cool enough to hang with us. A good example of this would be Camby's Left Nut. When he first came here, he tried to take over. We had to shoot him down. Now he's one of the coolest posters around, as evidenced by his undying affection for Francisco Elson. If we didn't act like such assholes to new people, we'd still have people like Meloboy and Earlfan posting here. For all we know, they might still be around, but at least they shutthafawk up. Do we really want this place to be an safe-haven for morons? We'd have a billion new threads a day with titles like "i lUv eArl" and "Kmart Haters - STFU" This is not a democracy. FLAME FLAME FLAME |

Amen. I think your posts should be judged on the credence of their character, rather than who has the most internet buddies on the board.  Who did I jack that premise from? THE KARMA IS RACIST. IT MAKES YOU PRE-JUDGE POSTS BASED ON SUBJECTIVE OPINIONS. ROCK, IF YOU DON'T FIX THIS BLATANT INTERNET RACISM... I might just have to invite you back to Boulder for more fun. I suppose I'll get labeled as a dick again, but this is one of my pet peeves and I really don't care who thinks I'm a dick. Racism has a very well defined definition. It involves not only judging someone because they are of a differenct race, but also acting on that and treating them differently than you would someplace else. Sexism is gender specific. To even in jest suggest that reputation can be even remotley compared to racism isn't right. I don't like the rep thing. It's always been stupid to me. I don't even look at it. Troy -- Believe me. I get confused when a lot of guys change nicks too. I knew MasterYoda was someone who'd been here a while, but if I knew it was Tigg - I'd have given every post a bit more credence. |
