Guess who was just in my law firm's offices a few minutes ago.  He was upstairs in a conference room and all of the secretaries, mailroom people, and attorneys were all running up there to see him. He had an entourage around him but he was a good sport, signing autographs and taking pictures for about 45 minutes. He literally picked up a woman who is a summer clerk here, and held her in his arms, just for a picture. Then he gave her an autograph saying "Will you marry me, signed Shaq." I tried telling him about this guy "ruff ryda" that was bitchslapping all of his haters on the Denver Nuggets forum, but he didn't know what I was talking about. |

It was weird because nobody knew he'd be in the office until he was already here. Why would he be in Denver for anything? Then, it was this stampede of people who wanted to meet him.
I thought about calling Catcalls (a few blocks away) but Shaq was only here for a little while.
I also thought about getting an autograph for Maxi or Ruff Ryda...NOT!

Wouldn't it have been funny if I had convinced Shaq to go on the DPO forum, so he could tell Ruff and Maxi to get the hell out of there. I would have let him borrow my handle for a few minutes! |

I know.... you took plenty of Shaq & arthurh photos, you just want to keep your net anonimity... so, what else did you say to him? Meeting Shanny and most of the Broncos in 1999, when they played a preseason game in Sydney, I kind of wish now that I hadn't told Pat Bowlen to "win one for Leon". They really sucked that year. |

yeah....AND if Lepsis hadn't rolled up TD's leg....
I just feel sad when I think of what TD would be up to now if he hadn't got injured then... wasn't like he was majorly injury prone before that, game here game there with ankles and whatnot. And his running style had him dodging more tackles than not.
Oh well...

Arthur,
The man just takes over a room doesn't he? I still remember when I was covering the Nugs - Lakers game two years ago and I saw him in the trainers room, the guy was huge. I mean, I've seen other 7-footers before, etc., but Shaq just dominates a room.

So your law firm represents Shaq, eh? Well, big deal. A few years ago, when Charlie Lyons was firing Allan Bristow, one of my partners represented Bristow in connection with his termination agreement. I still get an adrenaline rush just thinking about it.
Speaking of guys who could fill up a room, N4, did I ever tell you about my first interview with Ralph Sampson?

The highlight (just kidding) of my Nuggets' fandom was at one of the Regis College training camps, when Sidney Schlenker (former owner, for the young uns') showed up to watch with the sleaziest...in a sexy kinda' way...blonde I'd ever seen. Funny, I'd never heard about this woman in all his bios and newspaper stories. She looked like a stripper...one of the ones who gets tipped massively. It was almost Anna Nicole-like. I mean, here was this fat, ugly guy who resembled a sick toad with this babe. A couple of years ago I read somewhere that she WAS either a stripper or a prostitute...I forget which.

oh man, that is one of the best things Shaq's done in his career... I'm hard pressed to think of a precedent to this..
damn, I'm gonna have to like Shaq now... you can forget me ever liking his game tho...
