IMO, he was no different. Drove once into paint and finished with slam. Fine. Then had another paint short jumper he made. Highlight video also shows him getting inside and getting blocked. Also shows him getting blown by on defense at least twice, leading to scores by OKC. This highlight video shows nothing you could draw conclusions from. Murray isn’t driving as much, but he has done some driving, just not efficiently. He’s most likely sandbagging us. If he was sandbagging us he would give up the ball but he's been hunting his shot in games, but he can't get by anyone nor can he get separation even in his mid-range game. That wasn't an issue at beginning of last year. He's taking 11% of his shots from 0-3 ft an all-time low for him, and down from 17% last year. The idea that he's just coasting doesn't bare out from the fact of his frustration on not being able to score in games. I just think that's a delusional take. Look, it could either be consciously or subconsciously sandbagging. If Murray has fear in the back of his mind that he will hurt a knee or an ankle or his calf by playing too aggressively going downhill to the hoop, he will do it less. A career low 11% in 0-3 feet range could easily be Murray babying his own body to stay healthy. He says he’s 100% healthy, and I have no reason to think he’d lie since he’s being so out front in talking to media now about his struggles. He knows it’s a long season (early this year he said we have 100 games to go, so he views season as including a 20 game postseason), and could be taking fewer risks of injury by hoisting contested jumpers instead of more close-in shots. You’ll see Murray driving to hoop with effectiveness later in the season if he stays healthy. Right now, he is likely content to avoid injury.

It pains me to think how good this team could be with a serviceable backup center Every other GM would be doing whatever it takes to improve the roster being this close to contending again Ours do nothing. I think it’s inevitable the nuggets will never have a good front office Bickerstaff. Connelly. Booth. I miss warkenstein

I think it's a combination of three things: -he's out of shape -he's messed up mentally -his top end athleticism is reduced Two of the three can be fixed, and if/when they are he should return to at least being decent. But unless he's still hurt in some way I do think he might have simply lost a step and that may not ever come back. Luckily Murray was never a guy who needed top end athleticism to be elite. Murray almost always got in done with his footwork and his ability to make shots. He has always struggled to beat even bigs off the dribble. I really think it's just him being that out of shape. When you're not super athletic you need to be playing at 100% effort. He's incapable of doing that right now because of how tired he is.

I dont know is it his conditioning, or its something else, but ever since that injury in March, Murray looks slow. Yes, he was never too fast to begin with, but there is a difference with being not too fast and being slow. He also doesn't have enough lift in his legs. This might indicate one of three things: He has declined, which would be strange for a guy in his 20s, but wouldn't be the first time. There might be something off with his muscles because of too many small injuries he has sustained and he needs extended rest to heal which he didn't have due to the Olympics. Finally, he just might be out of shape and he cant recover between games. Funny enough, his best game so far this season was against Miami after concussion protocol, so this might be the answer...
Oh, it might be some combination of those three things. Who knows... We will probably know more in about 2 months

When you're not super athletic you need to be playing at 100% effort. He's incapable of doing that right now because of how tired he is. This is where I have been. Even looking at his bubble run…he was never a blow by guy. He’s a tough shot maker that uses his shiftiness to score at all three levels. He’s particularly good coming off ball screens and attacking mismatches. His big injury has been an ACL that he came back from and had an all time playoff run. He’s had a few injuries since…a hamstring, couple ankle sprains, and a calf strain. I don’t see how some minor injuries when you’re 27 takes you from being an elite playoff performer to an also ran. I think he’s out of shape and honestly a bit lost. I’ve seen him start to attack and then hesitate and dribble probe for 10 seconds…like he’s not sure what to do. He seems hesitant to leave his feet in the lane and he’s not coming off ball screens that hard. Seems mental and confidence related. My big worry is that him being out of shape and hesitant will lead to injuries problems moving forward. We can’t have this Jamal in March and April
