Thoughts from the Third Deck (TM): - I feel good about approximately 8 of our top 9 guys, with the caveat that Jamal still doesn't look good but I have faith in him bouncing back and not just being this guy forever. The rest of the starters looked like they were sleepwalking but also like they're really good basketball players, and Brodie / Strawther were solid, and PWat I have no real worries about if he's not trying to be the biggest guy off the bench. - Not really impressed by Saric this outing. He's kind of the X factor where, if he's a genuinely OK big (which he has been in the past), the bench is fine and we don't have to run Jokic/AG into the ground, and if he sucks donkey bawlz, then we either lose extra games or we exhaust our starting bigs. Really hope to see him look decent by the end of the postseason. - Zeke ... didn't suck??? ... which I know is a thing he has been capable of in the past, but I was still surprised that his shooting stroke looked good (regardless of the results which were also good, he just looked like he knew how to shoot the ball again) and he wasn't getting punkd on the glass. - Suns' scrubs hit a ton of heavily contested 3s, like, "guy in your lap" 3s that you maybe expect Steph to hit at that rate but you don't expect anyone else to be anywhere close. Can't really complain about most of the ones where Strawther or CB were the nearest defender. The only non-big I thought just wasn't contesting 3s how he should was Tyson, who looks like he lacks the strength, speed, and balance to play at this level. Dude should be in the gym doing core strength training and balance training all the time. - I still like Monte Morris and miss him. Dude would be such an asset to this team. I actually thought Saric was fine for the most part. He just missed some open shots. Guy is a career .84% FT Shooter and has had seasons from the 3 PT line of .391%, .393%, .383%, and .376%. I thought the shots we generated from him were good, and I think over the course of a season that will be a net positive. He also is still bullying people at the rim, and had some nice passes! Honestly Zeke looked good next to him, and if we could get that Zeke all the time, including a ferocious block that was quite impressive, he would play 8-12 mpg. His shooting stroke looked markedly smoother this game! Hunter Tyson missing shots hurt us! Still hate that Malone staggered Jamal with the bench instead of MPJ. If MPJ is out there with Strawther and say Pwat, he makes some of those 3's that Hunter missed.

He and Pickett, who didn’t even play tonight, need to go. We need those roster spots for someone like Lonnie Walker or Justin Holiday. Booth is 3 for 5. Three hits with Straw, CB, and PWat. Two misses with HT and JP. A 3/5 strike rate on guys who can contribute on a contender with mid-late 1st rounders is amazing. It's just been overshadowed by the 4yr contracts given to a couple of 2nd rnders which was absolutely unnecessary. If those two roster spots could go to a couple of vet min guys like Holiday this roster would look rock solid. The contracts are 3+TO — there’s no need to mislead to make the point you want to make. But here’s the thing — it’s a version of what most NBA teams are now doing. 8 of the 10 guys picked 31-40 this year were signed to multi-year guaranteed contracts and 1 is an overseas draft and stash. Only 1 was signed to a 2-way contract. Picks 41 and 44-47 all got signed to guaranteed contracts as well, although they are a mix of 1 and 2 years guaranteed. This year many teams copied the Nuggets’ strategy, so obviously it’s not seen as dumb around the NBA. And if Strawther is really good, the Booth led FO will have ample reason to puff out their chests if all of Braun, Watson (30th) and Strawther (29th) — are good. That’s beating the odds by a lot on late draft picks with very cheap contracts.

I bet the under on 51.5 wins for the season. Until Booth gets serious with improving the 10th-12th players on the roster, we won’t make 50 wins. Not to open an old wound of GBGs but as a reminder he said it was a lock for 50+ wins in the 2021-2022 season when it was just Jokic and a bag of role players that got just 48 wins. Obviously major injuries could derail any team including Denver but this group is easily talented enough to get 50+ wins in the West yet he can't fathom Nuggets getting to 50 wins. I'll bet the opposite of whatever GBG is predicting! 🤣

He only played 9 games, as I recall.

So Jamal tweaked his knee in warmups yesterday? Sounds like he just woke up in the morning and it "just didn't feel right" ugh!! He's becoming out Kawhi Leonard.

Good thing our guard depth is set up to deal with what was a highly predictable occurrence!
Oh wait...

Ehhhh come on guys it’s just a coincidence that the guy who is always hurt and always out of shape is hurt and out of shape. Would be cool if we didnt max him but the Nuggets are a very stupid organization.
Have a top 10-15 player ever and will never get him an All Star teammate because they are allergic to risk taking and instead just play it safe with shittier talent.
Maybe MPJ makes a jump this year. I doubt it but it does seem like hes really taken this offseason seriously.

Posting impassionately, they say you don't care. Posting nothing, they say you ignore. Posting with passion, you incite trolls. Posting fluff, you say nonsense. Post with what facts you have, they whittle down with rationale. There is no win. There is only slow degradation.

I guess this is our game thread? OK fine. I'll be there with my mom tonight. Not sure if i blame Booth or mods more for the downfall of NT Well i guess Booth since the Random thread is very active still. People of Nuggets talk just dont care much about the Nuggets lmao

After the championship high, last year's letdown, and current whiny b***h freshly-signed-to-a-max-and-now-injured Jamal, I have to admit I'm less interested in the Nuggets this year than I can ever remember. They will have to win me back in order to inspire me to stay up past my retirement bedtime.

So Jamal tweaked his knee in warmups yesterday? Its always something Yeah, people act like this is new but this is exactly who Jamal is as he missed 23 games last season and 17 games the year before. Last year it was a hamstring, previous year's it was an ankle or knee soreness as the guy is who he is at this stage. Doesn't mean Jamal won't step up later in the season with usual stats around 20 ppg/40% from 3 but if people think he's playing anywhere near 82 games, then they are delusional.

People of Nuggets talk just dont care much about the Nuggets lmao Its preseason and there's nothing to really talk about. Like I don't think many people care at all about how Hunter Tyson, Jalen Pickett, Trey Alexander, etc look. All of them are irrelevant. We know who our Top 8 are. We know the Nuggets can win 60+ in the regular season and it doesn't matter. Season starts in April for this team. Not worth getting up in arms and flipping out or getting super excited over anything that happens in the preseason. Next Thursday will be quite the test for this team. Super excited to see how Braun does guarding Shai. Also, I am so hyped for Westbrook.

Calvin Booth the only guy on the planet that thought Murray could play 82 Calvin Booth is quite a bit of ways down the pecking order of Nuggets’ decision-makers when it comes to big player contracts: 1) Stan Kroenke 2) Josh Kroenke - - - - - - - 3) Calvin Booth and whichever other KSE executives (some of whom have been with the team longer than Booth) are asked by Josh Kroenke to express an opinion and provide data regarding a big player contract and alternatives and how the choices are likely to effect both team performance and the overall KSE finances.

I worry about the mental and physical health of those who actually put stock into preseason and get nervous/anxious over it. I watched maybe 5 or 10 minutes total
