AD went for 40. Which means he’ll get 15 in game 2.

disastrous second half. we need much more poise in game 2, can't play defense as softly as we did.
on other hand, no f***ing chance Lakers shoot 45% for 3 again. Jokic will need to solve Hachimura. expected adjustment from Lakers

The fouls were even, 21-21. At home, in game 1, with an 8-man rotation.
In LA, the disparity will be in their favor decisively. With our 8-man rotation, it means some early foul trouble, and one or more guys fouling out. Hopefully not Jokic.

We'll see in game 2 but I'm curious to see how Jokic attacks that matchup from the jump. A roaming AD is a nightmare but no doubt the Nuggets will prepare for it. I think Jokic was abit gassed(rightfully so after that performance). I think he attacks it much differently if he see's that coverage from tip off. You can limit Gordon or do what JVG was saying and run the pick and roll with Jokic/Gordon. I don't think you do that until you lose tho IMO. Make the Lakers adjust to you, not the other way around. Both teams just gave you there A+ performances(outside of the Nuggets D IMO) and the Nuggets won. It gets overrated how a team looks like with a big lead IMO.
I'll be in the minority but I hope Malone doesn't panic right away. Force L.A to make those adjustments, let your guys figure it out, if they can't by the 2nd half of game 2/game 3 than you make your move.

Lakers are perfectly set up to win game 2. They solved something in this half. Lol to this take!

Lakers are perfectly set up to win game 2. They solved something in this half. It’s a good thing their adjustment owned us in the 4th. Jokic is smart enough to adjust his game with Rui guarding him and Malone should make adjustments before game 2. Denver can win different ways. I expect the next game to be similar to game 2 against Phoenix with the defensive intensity up on both sides.

If Davis is going to play off of Gordon and you have Gordon set ball screens then Murray going to get free picks. I don't thunk it's a panic to be smart and put Davis in PnR action to get him out of the paint and Rui with Davis pulled from paint will struggle to keep Jokic off glass. Could also see some action where Jokic dribble handing followed immediately with Gordon ball screen could be a fun action to look at.

Jokic clearly miscalculated the 4th Q. We were up by 14 and he stopped attacking when Rui switched onto him. He thought that the shooters will end the game. But man, being guarded by fuc*ing Hachimura you need to attack 24/7 and hammer him into the ground. Murray was fuc*ing awesome

Watching some of the highlights, I see when Jokic attacks Rui is that when Davis helped and LeBron helped off on Gordon was that MPJ was wide open in the corner, May be another way to get em put of it is to kill em with corner 3 then if they don't help Gordon will have the dunk. Jokic will watch and adjust I'm sure.

I think it's abit of a panic move to change your offense after a W because of a sequence where Jokic was clearly gassed after an All-Time performance and being passive and the Nuggets were comfortably ahead. Jokic's shooting gets underrated. Rui is 6'8. Jokic can shoot over him all day. He can also carve a defense up with his passing if they choose to double him + let AD roam with. I also think there's an interesting aspect of foul trouble with AD roaming near the basket. If Jokic is look to score and super aggressive? Who knows. I'm not saying not to make that adjustment or that it won't need to happen but I don't think you overreact to a 4th quarter. Nuggets are the better team IMO. Jokic is a special talent. One of the benefits of that is you don't need play afraid. The benefit of a guy like Jokic is you have an All-Timer who can figure things out. Right now L.A got punched in the mouth, adjusted, Nuggets held on. Let's wait until we actually get hit before changing the playbook IMO.

The Rui guarding him with AD roaming set is the same thing the Celtics will try to do against us with Horford and Smith. Jokic will eventually beat it with his post attack and timely passing. The reason Embiid was not able to beat it is because he lacks those two things.

It certainly could be an A+ adjustment by L.A. I'll give Jokic the benefit of the doubt tho. I think if the Lakers were up 3 with 10 minutes left in the 4th it's a different story. If Jokic didn't go insane mode in the first half and put up an All-Time performance than I also think it's a different story. He looked tired + was looking to get others involved. It's like that one Philly game in the regular season. I'm just not going to panic when the answer to Jokic is P.J Tucker or Hachimura. Yeah shooters will need to hit there shots. Gordon will need to move and be active. Jokic will need to be aggressive and utilize his passing and shooting ability. Those things will need to happen regardless. Nuggets are fucked no matter what if switching Hachimura and letting AD roam nets them this series. Adjust once it becomes clear they can't deal with it for sure but doing it now shows a lack of confidence IMO. No matter what they do as long as the Nuggets play up to there capabilities they can win this thing.

The reason Embiid was not able to beat it is because he lacks those two things. Jokic just has such a diverse skillset. You mentioned the passing/post but is Jokic facing up over Rui a bad offensive set? Get him a few looks on the elbow and you take that everyday. If he can hit a few how long until L.A makes the adjustment? There's a reason that it wasn't there 1st option. I don't care how good a defender a guy is .. guarding a talent like Jokic with a guy who's that much smaller is risky business. A few games where Jokic is off like that Tucker game? Sure. A 7 game series is a different story.

I just don't understand how people aren't terrified over the end of that game. The Nuggets have to figure out how Murray can defend the PnR without getting killed (Lebron posted him up over and over and when they'd switch Murray off, he couldn't recover in time to contest Reaves 3s)
And you have the Hachimura on Jokic issue which has always been the way to stop Jokic ala Favors/Gobert and Tucker/Embiid. The simple answer is to just play much more MPJ at the 4 but Malone is never going to do that obviously...
So I think Jokic has to try to get Hachimura in foul trouble and also be willing to shoot over the top of him. The Nuggets should be able to run a bunch of pick and pops with insert Lakers guard and Hachimura. Jokic or Murray just have to take and make mid-range Js.
That game was extremely concerning. The Lakers found things on both ends and almost beat the Nuggets on a night where Murray, Jokic, KCP, Bruce and MPJ were about as good as they can all play.
