And really, the Blazers look fine. There was so much talk that their season was over when Nurk went down, but they haven't missed a step. If anything, they look a little better to me. They don't have Nurk trying to take over and fumbling the ball all over the place.

It's still hard to beat them when both Dame and CJ are hot, but I also think the Thunder are a good matchup for them. Westbrook is a special kind of shitty and PG13 can't carry them anywhere.

This has a lot more to do with just how bad OKC is than how good Portland is. Dame/CJ can carry a team offensively though. Westbrook can't make a shot and PG13 is banged up. People forget that the Thunder were literally only good this year when PG was playing at an MVP level. Now that he's regressed back to the mean they're a really bad offensive team who has no shooting.

yeah, remember we talk about the Nuggets having a rough finish to the season, but OKC dropped from challenging for 2nd to a virtual 3-way tie for 678. They were in reach of being one of those 40w before 20L teams at 37-19, and then were 44-33 -- a 7 and 14 stretch -- before running off a W streak vs mostly teams that were resting guys to finish the season. (By comparison, the Nuggets' worst 10 game stretch of the year was 4-6 in November. Never had a sub-500 stretch late in the season.)
They're an incredibly flawed team that's only good when Paul George is playing like an MVP candidate, which he hasn't been recently.

Can't see him staying around for long if this continues His decline has been really fast, but he can stay in the league for several more seasons if he can accept a new role, but if he acts like Melo (a high possibility) he'll play himself out of the league real quick...

I know from the backroom office discussions that Westbrook is a good man. He’s unlikely to take a Melo-like turn. He’ll be in the league for a long time, in some kind of a positive capacity - think more VINCE Carter, less Melo.
That said - I said back in November that Westbrook was washed up. Jealous that we don’t have them in round one - but I’m feeling much better about the spurs right now than I felt 6 hours ago.

Question for the group -- does Cousins torn quad make GS beatable in the playoffs this year? No difference. At all. If Klay, Curry or Durant goes down, then we can talk. Until then - zero difference.

Were you grown up during the 90S and witnessed Jordan's era ? Or have you just learned the "why is Lebron the GOAT for dummies" memo ? To argue that Jordan dominated because he "had a MAJOR athleticism advantage over basically the entire league" when you try to plead for Lebron as the GOAT is just laughable. The biggest freak is Lebron, I can't see how there could be a debate on that. At least Jordan had a clean technique, sharpened in UCLA. Lebron for years had flaws of a high-school baller. You argue that Jordan didn't have to face a team like the Warriors but who initiated the superteams era ? Lebron did in Miami, and that's maybe the biggest change he brought to the NBA. Thanks for that. And what competition did Lebron have in the East ? Not much, he was pretty easy to go lose a final each year. The East in the 90s was something else. Compare the average NBA athlete during the Jordan era to the average NBA athlete during the Lebron era. The difference was much, much greater during the Jordan era. And while baby Jordan was getting ousted in the 1st round...baby Lebron was making the Finals with Zydrunas Ilgasukas as his 2nd best player. Also Lebron did not start the superteam, Boston did and his "superteam" was obviously nothing close to the one in GS. And while I'd agree that the East has been weak for a while...those Boston teams were very good. So were those Bulls teams. Everyone always brings up the East being a cakewalk for Lebron but in Jordans 6 title runs he only had 6 total series in the East go 6 or more games. Every single first round he swept 3-0. So was the East really that good? Were the 90s Knicks teams really better than the Rose era Bulls teams? IMO yes. The Pacers teams really better than the Core 4 Celtics teams? IMO no. I know your argument will be that "the Bulls were just that good" but in reality the level of competition in the 90s really wasn't that great. The first year Jordan left the Bulls almost made the ECF. Lost in 7 to the Knicks. The bad boy Pistons and the Knicks were the only true great teams during Jordans run in the East. And by time Jordan was winning rings the Pistons were pretty much past their prime and championship window. If you're going to argue the Price/Ehlo Cavs teams are better than some of the weaker teams Lebron has went through (PG Pacers) idk what to tell you. We simply disagree. One more time, were you grown up during the 90S and witnessed Jordan's era ? Disagree on the Boston superteam, Lebron was the first superstar to join a different team, in his prime, in order to get a ring. T what do you mean by "LeBron is a top all-time NBA talent, no doubt. I'd probably put him right behind Jordan, but would need to think on it further." ? For me talent-wise he's behind Bird. But physically he was a damn freak. Maybe a translation issue here, in french talent refers to technical skills.

Watching this I'm sitting here thinking the Blazers FO is so f***ing stupid and lucky. Like they wanted to lose against Sacramento and face Utah -> GSW rather than this s**t OKC team and the winner in our shitty series. Portland looking like a WCF team right now Things just work out for them

Their curse started when they drafted Sam Bowie over Michael Jordan. Bowie was Oden before Oden was born. Blessed is their curse.

Question for the group -- does Cousins torn quad make GS beatable in the playoffs this year? I think this is by far the best chance someone will have to upset GS. Durant could have one foot out the door. I don't think Cousins injury is the reason they'll be beatable, but rather Klay/Durant's FA looming over the team. Durant almost looks like he has one foot out of the door early on. Nobody knows what's going to happen for sure but if everyone thinks Durant's bolting/and Durant actually is planning to leave .. that has to affect them. Even than GS has won 3 of the past 4 finals. The one they lost took a suspension to a key player, and two players having the series of a lifetime. I think the recipe to beating GS will always be the same. Just hope they have chemistry issues, or the bad habits they've developed from dominating the league catch up to them. Ever since the 73 win season they pick and choose when to flip the switch. There too cocky which leaves the vulnerable at times.

Can't see him staying around for long if this continues That's an overly hot take given that he averaged a triple double this season. If Westbrook is washed up, then Ben Simmons is washed up because they are relatively similar players -- great at most of basketball except shooting. OKC doesn't have nearly enough shooting to go with Westbrook. Westbrook does need to be willing to take fewer of the shots he rarely makes. If OKC puts more shooting on the floor with him and he still takes too many low percentage shots, then that's on him. I give credit to Westbrook for playing his entire career in Oklahoma City, one of the smallest cities in the NBA.
