Ugh...wtf is wrong with white men? (Of which I am one)... GBG, I think you know the answer -- white men (currently about 30% of the US population) were given 100% of the money and authority by US law and practice, they've lost some of that over the past 150 years or so but far from all or a proportionate share of it, they don't like losing any of it, and they not only want to hold on to the majority that they still have but would like to roll it back to a greater percentage. A sizeable percentage of the white males that make up about 30% of the US population prioritizes holding on to their privilege, power and money over all else.

A sizeable percentage of the white males that make up about 30% of the US population prioritizes holding on to their privilege, power and money over all else. Don’t quite agree with the money part. 30% of the US population is not flush with wealth to preserve, much less a substantial portion of the white male population. The largest support among that cohort is “white male without a college degree”. This is the working class that is struggling to make ends meet, and whose jobs have been outsourced or skills become obsolete. These white men are not trying to preserve their money because, simply put, they have damn little. The undereducated white male is motivated by their desire for their Alpha Dog male hero to maintain the “white patriarchy”. They are more motivated to be nativists and bigots. As well as sexists who want the country reverting to 1950’s America. The male white working class has no power or money, just the empowerment they feel by having the manly misogynistic racist in power. They are also full of fear about the browning of America, and see Trump as their protector. Also don’t forget the libertarian streak in white men, especially. Trump hasn’t started any new wars, and these people assume that would continue under a second Trump term. They are wanting us to be isolationists, and have friends who have PTSD or injuries from all the wars we’ve fought, or are veterans themselves. They see Trump as someone who will leave them alone and allow them to continue to fantasize about selfish liberties and “FREEDOM”!

I haven't read the articles but heard a discussion by Rachel Maddow yesterday. The fact that Trump would turn to desperate measures isn't surprising. But I do not agree that the federal courts -- even if Trump manages to seat another justice on the Supreme Court by the election -- would side with the the theory that state legislatures have unlimited discretion to seat (electoral college) electors of their choosing. Now, if states had opted not to have voting at all for President it would be different. But having created a system of voting in each state -- polling places, mail ballots, absentee ballots, whatever -- on the basis that those votes would be counted and would determine the outcome of elections and determine according to state law the allocation of electors to the electoral college (all states except Maine and Nebraska have the stupid "winner take all" law), I feel confident that federal courts would rule that states are bound to count the votes according to state law and the procedures they've established, and then use that count to determine allocation of electors to the electoral college. Was there an element of partisanship in Bush v. Gore? Yes (in a state that was a tie given the inevitable small margin for error in voting). Did it approach anything remotely like the notion that a state legislature could ignore the vote or a significant portion of the vote (such as mail ballots or absentee ballots that had been issued by the state, completed, and returned in accordance with the state's established law and procedure) and appoint electors without regard to the count of votes lawfully cast? No. And it's worth keeping in mind that federal judges -- including Supreme Court justices -- can be impeached.

I don't know why msnbc liberals treat Joe Rogan like the second coming of David Duke when he's been exposing right-wing grifters for years now.

I can honestly say this, I have never felt prouder to be a Democrat than I am in these trying times. I have been a member of the party since 1972 when I cast my proudest vote for president, but over the years I've often been embarrassed by my party and most definitely not proud. During the Clinton years, I finally had it up to here and emailed and called the Green Party to join up, but the damned fools never contacted me, so here I am. (I would have never voted for Nader in 2000 or Stein in 2016, so I would have been back)
I get sick of the bothsiderism so common these days. There are two sides only. One side is good, if flawed on occasion, and one side is pure, unadulterated evil.
The choice is obvious.
