We are a cohesive team becuase we have to be. I'm not really trying to disagree or agree with the point you were making, but reading this sentence just reminded me of something that happened in the game, and this is kind of a good jumping off point to riff off of. I don't think it's only because they have to be, I think it's because they genuinely enjoy being cohesive because they are really sincerely into the team concept now, and more than that I think they just really like each other as teammates. Hearing Chauncey speak after the game about how happy he was for LK that he was able to step up this time, I think that's some real talk from him. And there are so many little moments during games where we see little examples of dudes getting each other's backs and getting each other's ears. The one in this game that I noticed tonight was after Billups missed that first free throw, and J.R. made a real point to run over from about the half court line to slap hands and give him a word of encouragement. Kind of like little bro telling big bro, "Don't worry about that, man, you're gonna be fine and we got your back." I'm probably reading too much into it. But really, I don't think so. This crew is tight. So I guess I'd say that maybe that cohesion might be born of necessity, but it thrives because it comes naturally to them since it's real and unforced, and that's the way they want to play now because that's the way they've really come together as a team now. /cheesy rant

Being one of the few people who don't hate LK on the board, let me say a few things:
1) I was scared as hell when he went into the game. He's been sucking badly and in no way deserved minutes based on previous games play.
2) I've said for most of the year and like/hate/love/despise LK, he would be a key for us sometime in the playoffs. Every championship team has the guy nobody expects to come off the bench and have a huge game. Maybe it's JJ Redick sticking 5 threes in a key game for Orlando. Or maybe it's Sasha Vujavic hitting for 12 points in a closing game at Utah last year for the Lakers. There comes a time you need that surprise guy to make a big contribution. For us, we expect JR to play well. (He hasn't in this series, but that's another story) We expect Melo, Billups, and Nene to play decent. We even expect Kenyon to do what he does. LK is the guy who HAD to step up at sometime during this playoff run to give us a lift. And I'll be damned if he didn't do it tonight. Congrats LK.
3) I never want to hear a comment about how Melo doesn't step up in the playoffs, isn't that great of a player, or isn't in the Kobe/Wade conversation again. He's clearly in that class. I know there will be people who say "he's only done it for a couple of rounds in the playoffs, etc.) I don't give a damn. He's a special player and I'm glad the world has found this out.
4) For all the talk Van Gundy and ESPN gave about the Lakers destroying Denver on the glass, I found it interesting we had more offensive rebounds.

When they were talking about it, Gasol was having a field day on the glass.

^^^ The Nuggets did clean up the boards much better tonight, and LK played a large part in that as well ;D

I agree about the issues with LK. He does have the big game ability, but then he's nowhere to be found the next three or four games. Absolutely inconsistent. Watch his stats on Saturday, I bet he gets 4 points. I still say drop him. Watch JRS step up and find himself next year. GO NUGS

^^^ The Nuggets did clean up the boards much better tonight, and LK played a large part in that as well ;D He really did and it had a monumental impact on the game. We were a much better rebounding team with him on the floor and it wasn't a coincidence. He was blocking out and going to the glass on just about every shot attempt. I didn't see it coming, but great game for lk.

I don't think I've ever felt so relieved at the end of a game as tonight. When Chauncey missed that FT at the end, I was fearing the worst. But just great character to get behind a couple of times and force our way back in it just by playing smart and having some composure. I did get a sinking feeling when the game was tied in the third and there was that BS offensive foul on Nene, followed by a blatant push out on Kobe that wasn't called and a bunch of Laker transition points.....previously it may have all unravelled at that point.
But I have to say I'm worried about Karl's ability to screw this up - LK has been awful so far in the playoffs and for most of the season, but we all saw what a difference it made when he was on the floor - they have to guard him out to the three point line and going smaller opens up the lane for Melo and Chauncey. Our offense looked really good when we had that lineup. As soon as we went with Nene and K-Mart, it stalled again. LK shouldn't be guaranteed minutes, but if he happens to be on and things are working when he's on the floor, why go away from that? And benching Melo was killing our momentum also - why the hell would you do that? GK needs to pay attention to what's going on in the game, rather than sticking to set rotations all the time. We saw that a smaller lineup can be effective against the Lakers (especially since Phil has shown he has no faith in Bynum), and while you're playing with fire a bit in terms of giving up more offensive rebounds, I hope we see some more of it in game 3. My fear is that, if DJ doesn't get in quick foul trouble, GK will see no need to mess with his usual rotations and LK will see about 5 minutes before his benched. Prove me wrong GK!
Can't wait for Game 3 - the crowd will be insane and we have a great chance to go up in this series. The big positive for the Nuggets is that they've got nothing out of JR yet and Birdman hasn't been at his best - they're the type of player who feed off a home crowd and if they contribute, we are in good shape.

few really quick notes/questions about game 2: - any chance the nba looks at the tech kmart got (the double tech with gasol) and recinds that one too - he didnt do anything at all. not sure how many he has but he might be getting close to 7
- did we activate hunter?
- the espn bias for the lakers is real folks...its like we were watching the laker commentators...they said everything from LA's perspective and even went out of their way to point out bad ref calls that hurt the lakers. i cant tell you how many times ive wished commentators call our refs but they always puss out and say 'good call' or nothing at all. but tonight, more than once, they actually called out the refs when a call went against the lakers - f**k that. i really get the sense taht this is the lakers series and we are just there so that they have another team to play...kind of like the washington generals were created so people could watch the harlem globetrotters every game. we are nothing but pawns to the lakers, the nba, espn, abc, stern, etc...its all about the lakers. every preview, every analysis...its what they can do, what the lakers did wrong, what the lakers need to do. espn/abc arent even trying to hide the bias at all.
- jr needs to step it up! birdman too! they were great vs dallas but nothing so far vs the lakers.

We really have to get ready for Game 3. Chauncey should speak from experience being down 0-1 and tying it 1-1 from his previous Piston teams that a lot of energy and focus have been expended. They should know this and come out in Game 3 with better awareness about it and don't come out flat. We have to be ready for Game 3.
I expect LK to play even better in Denver. When we have a comfortable lead, GK can insert him to deliver some knockout threes. And J.R. should also play better and settle himself better.

My thoughts for the rest of the series... The Nugs now know in their hearts that they're better than the Lakers, and they've got a champion's mindset in Billups and Melo who don't care about moral victories, but are greedy for the whole pie. I wouldn't be surprised to see a blow-out win in game three, an 8 point win in game 4, a tight loss in game five and a tight win in game 6. LA is will start playing scared and tight, and in the end will be talking about needing to rebuild, just like NOH and Dallas, after Denver was through with them.

Imagine how scary of a team we would be if LK showed up like this every night. We'd be locks for the NBA Finals. Just glad we got the W after getting robbed in Game 1.

i will say it was a pleasant surprise that LK was actually grabbing defensive rebounds instead of running out. the shooting was cherries on top.

maybe you'd like to apologize? for what? for its expression, that if kleiza play, Kobe will have the perfect match. And for the fact that you hate Kleiza although he and melo saved tonight the Nuggets ass.
