is the karma optiion the thing where people got and-1 reps or negative reps?
i remember when i first got here all u gay guys would give negative rep to anybody new. that was back in the day when noobs were necessarily terrible like they are now either.

I don't remember that being the case. When I first got here I think I was at +8 or so, before I even realized what the hell it was....and I was even more terrible of a poster then than I am now.
I think as long as people didn't come in and be complete jackasses....they'd generally get a few bonus points right off the top. If they were fools right away, of course they'd get negative rep.
