Really like Watson last night. He looked great on both ends. He's an athletic TR Dunn. He'll be even better someday soon...

Watson has incredible timing and great length (7'1" wingspan, 9 foot standing reach, exactly 6'8" in shoes) but he's actually not a very good jumper. He had almost the same vertical lap as Jalen Pickett and Collin Gillespie at the combine (33.5" for Watson, 33.0" for our baby point guards). He just maximizes every bit of it by jumping at the right time. If Peyton could jump like Jeff Green he'd average 6 blocks a game.

Maybe he had a sore quad or calf while there. 33.5” doesn’t pass the eye test. You saw on his alley-oop dunk yesterday that he was over the square of backboard, right? Braun jumps over 40”, and I believe the same with Peyton.

Even Joker only has a standing reach of 9'3". If Watson truly had a 40 inch vertical that would mean he could get his hand to at least 12'4" into the air, or 3.3 feet above the rim. I haven't seen his hands over 3 feet above the rim.

He jumps well and has long arms. I'm glad he's on our team.

As my wife would say about me, “you’re a little bit of a bookworm”. You see a number put up at a combine and think it’s a static truth about a player. No, his combine results don’t mean all Watson is capable of is a 33.5 inch jump. 1) he might have had a bad day, maybe sick or less than 100% with his legs, 2) it’s one snapshot in time, and he can get better, and 3) we have already seen with our own eyes that he’s a run and leap athlete. In fact, the best athlete on the team, or second best behind AG. Whether it’s a 40-inch jump or not, he gets off the floor and well above the rim, as we’ve all seen. It doesn’t take studying combine results to conclude that. We have visual info on him now.

Again, there's no way he's getting 3.3 feet above the rim. That's the visual info.

Man, I will never trust MPJ and his handle. He's past the time to improve it. He should never ever have a ball in his hands in the crunch time unless it's a catch and shoot

Again, there's no way he's getting 3.3 feet above the rim. That's the visual info. It would be 2.3 feet above the rim since he has a 9 foot standing reach. But whatever. Believe in stale combine numbers if you want.
