We gave away a huge lead in the only game Miami won. This series should already be over. Miami played way over their heads to get where they are. Nuggets if anything have played below their standards. I'm not sure what you're explaining to me here. I understand the Nuggets are a better team and are the favorites. I have no use for victory lapping before this series is over. I've waited many years to get this close. I can watch them close the deal before I start high stepping. There's an entire offseason to talk about a series being over after it's actually over. Fami underscores the generational differences among fans. Im nearly 69 1/2, have been following the Nuggets since 1984, and the NBA more broadly since early 1970’s. I take nothing for granted. People in the Baby Boom generation know s**t happens. Scars from living life and seeing so many disappointments. Fami might be 30 (he can correct me), and likely hasn’t experienced nearly as many disappointments in his sports life or life in general. He’s rational to think this game should be easy, and we are on another tier from this Miami team, which might be the weakest team we’ve faced in these playoffs. But maybe he hasn’t gotten enough scars of disappointment as us “oldsters”. I’m ready to be very happy around 9 pm tonight. But it isn’t over until it’s over. And tonight might not be the end of this series.

There's an entire offseason to talk about a series being over after it's actually over. It annoys me that people act like fans being confident has any impact on the outcome. As if the fans already hanging the proverbial banner could possibly affect the players on the floor in any fashion. I won't apologize for my assessment of this series. I had Nuggets in 5 before it started and I haven't budged off that prediction. I got the Wolves series right, I got the Suns series right, I actually gave the Lakers too much credit picking them to win 1 game, and I had us over the Heat in 5. If the actual players were acting like it was a foregone conclusion it would be a different story, but I'm not a player. I'm a guy who has seen enough to call it.

Humility is also something human beings tend to learn more about as they age.
Watch and wait for the time to celebrate. We shall see if tonight is the night. Prognostication is fun but gets thrown out the window at a moment like this.

And tonight might not be the end of this series. I'm in my mid 30s, but if you have any scars or disappointments it's your own fault because this is the first team in Nuggets history that they could or should reasonably be expected to win. I had zero nerves about the Avs last year or the Broncos in Super Bowl 50 because I knew beyond any doubt they were going to win. I had a ton of nerves about Super Bowl 48 because I knew they were going to lose. I had a ton of nerves about the last 2 NLL Championships because I knew going in that the Mammoth were the far inferior team and would need a superhuman effort from the goalie to win. Ultimately they won one and lost one. I had a ton of nerves for Super Bowl XXXII, XXXIII and the 2001 and 1996 Stanley Cups because I was just a kid and didn't know what was going to happen. The Nuggets have the best player in this series. The Nuggets have the second best player in this series. The Nuggets have the better team. There is no reason to expect them to walk out of there with anything but a W tonight.

Humility is also something human beings tend to learn more about as they age. Apparently so is turning into a giant pussy. As an old college roommate used to say to me when I bragged about being right… “What do you want, a cookie”? In my day, we tried to respect elders. Though we didn’t trust anyone over 40 (or 30 when I was under that age). I’m not sure what Millennials or Gen Zers are like, but we wouldn’t have endzone danced and called cautious elders “pussies” before the actual event.

Apparently so is turning into a giant pussy. That's not call for, good vibes only My vibes are all good. It's y'all that are sitting around wringing your hands like a bunch of rocks. Puff your chests out. Stop acting like a bunch of battered spouses. We belong here. We're celebrating a championship tonight.

Battered spouses. I'll see myself out of this garbage.
Enjoy the game. I think they should win if they do the right things as well.

All this talk about giant pussies makes me hungry.
I have the fat J and beer all set for my victory celebration. If you want me to dedicate a hit or swig to you, just let me know.

It also seems like several of the more, um, amateur Nuggets bloggers have started really running their mouths in columns and on Twitter. A few of the pieces I've seen have been quite confrontational. When did we become Philly fans and media? I've actually seen several concessions from Philly media types that they were wrong. Zach Lowe had to keep reminding the DNVR folks on their show that there is still another game to win yesterday. Can we just win? And enjoy it? Spend as little energy as possible talking s**t or being pissed about what other people say. If the Nuggets win tonight, do you know what the Stephen A/Nick Wright/Skip Bayless/Philly Blogger will do tomorrow? Say something dismissive that annoys you. The Vegas odds for next year will probably annoy you. That's the game. They don't just concede to being wrong and shut the show down. They make an excuse, they dismiss the accomplishment, whatever, because they're playing characters. If you're giving them 1% of the space in your head on what should be a joyous occasion (tonight or later this week if the series extends), you're just doing it wrong. Who cares. Best advice for everybody, me included, is to put all your energy into enjoying this and celebrating with others who have been on this very unique ride. We're not griping over draft grades or All Rookie 1st team anymore. This cannot be taken away. Ever. Kendrick Perkins saying they're the worst champions he's ever seen (or something) is designed to get people annoyed. We're entering a dead period for sports. They'll have to manufacture something. If you can't just enjoy it now, then when? And why follow sports? Who did this?

I haven't been popping bottles like some of my NT brethren, primarily because I still don't 100% believe this is happening. I'm also slightly depressed at this possibly being Bruce Brown's last game with the Nuggets. It's funny, I described him as a smaller Iggy when Booth first signed him and he's very likely going to be one and done like Iggy but they will be leaving under completely different circumstances. one considered Denver an Arctic cow-town, never wanted to play here and weaseled his way out of town in the most cowardly and pathetic way possible. the other embraced the Mile High City, embraced being the Swiss army knife of the team, did whatever Malone asked of him and played a pivotal role in bringing the Nuggets to the promised land. similar playstyles but two radically different people. BB re-signing ala Bobby Portis will never happen

Games 2, 3 & 4 were scrippted in terms of the refs favoring Miami ...it shouldn't be an issue to do the same for game 5...we are the more talented and better team

To say I’m excited and nervous at the same time is a huge understatement. All the years of expectation followed by disappointment leads up to this. It’s our time to get it.
Taken the day off work to breathe it all in and ride with the lads. Let’s get it Nuggets 💪
