How much gear have we all ordered?
I copped the NBA champs Funko pop set, a few tees, cap and a banner. Will order some framed prints once they are allowed to be shipped in Australia

I can only wear fitted hats because I have enormous dome syndrome so I'll wait to try some on in person. I'll get some shirts for myself and the fam as well.

The first championship team I was a fan of was Rick Barry’s 1975 Warriors. I grew up in Northern California wine country. Moved to Denver in 1984 and saw my first Nuggets game in April that year. Became a fan right away. Fat Lever was my favorite Nugget in the 80’s since I saw his senior season at Arizona State. He had 40 points in his last collage home game. Saw him at a Scottsdale bar that night and congratulated him. He was super nice. Kiki was also my favorite when he was here as he went to UCLA right after I graduated. I actually shot baskets with him by accident in Paulette Pavilion in 1978. My original handle here (look at my profile) was GoKikiGo, then GoBearupGo, now GBG. It has been a long journey of basketball fandom for me, from watching John Woden’s Bill Walton UCLA team in 1973 to now. But this is as good as it gets. Jokic is a perfect human being and player. Or as close to perfection as humans can be. Wooden was like that as a coach. I am lucky as a hoops fan. It's just so absurd that after all that ... your first Nuggets championship is right now. Has to be insane. We all just got to witness an All-Time great season by Jokic, Murray in the playoffs, and the Nuggets as a whole. Who would have thought as Nugget fans that would be a possibility. 18+ years ain't nothing to sneeze at either. That's long enough. My fandom started before I can remember. My first memories were my dad taking me to games at McNichols with the Horse and English making it look easy and Hanz pissing off the other teams star players. But for me, I didn't truly get sucked in until the 94 upset over the Sonics. I was able to watch that team get built from the ground up and I loved that team. Especially Phonz. It's really a shame what happened to that group. Sad, really. Winning with defense was big in that era and I thought we had a championship defense. What I learned over those years is that to win an NBA championship in a market as small as Denver would take incredible patience and perseverance. You weren't gonna buy it or win one with a rent-a-star. No way. The idea that you could just blow it up when things weren't looking good became a myth for me. What we needed and finally got, was an FO to be patient and keep prioritizing great drafts, even if they didn't have ideal picks. That's the Spurs model if you ask me. Don't waste draft picks. Even this year, we have a rookie out there in the finals making a huge impact because we didn't punt. As odd as it may sound, I felt like the change started happening around the time of the Faried and Lawson picks. That's when I stopped being as critical of the FO. Pretty much from that point forward, we actually scout and take picks that aren't top 5 seriously. That's how you build a great team in a small market. And of course, it takes a little help from the bball gods. Thanks Jokic!!

I'm pretty sure I have the most Nuggets "seniority" on the board. I date back to the Year of Spencer Haywood in the ABA when we were the Rockets in the 60's. Saw games at the Auditorium Arena downtown. It's been a long long Nugglyfe.

It isn't but it's awesome seeing fans who literally have memories from '94 experience this or for a few on here waaaay back further. Same with all the people who watch games at like 4 AM before they have to head to work. New fans, longtime fans it's awesome.. the first one ever is special. You make some great points and points that I would have disagreed with for like 10+ pages for years. For me it's fitting because I was OBSESSED with tanking/blowing it up. I thought it was the only way for the Nuggets franchise to win. To get that "star".. and yet we won with a 2nd round pick + non top 5 picks. I have two PM's from 2012 with the subject "tank" and "blow it up"(shout out voodoo) because I'd basically just spam that s**t for pages. I was obsessed with the draft and getting the highest possible picks.

First season I remember clearly was Mutombo vs the Sonics. I was watching games with my dad before that but who knows how much of it I really remember and how much of it is just from clips I've seen through the years.

My theory now is that we played so intensely on defense that it wore out our legs on our jump shots. Also, Heat shot awful and were playing hard nosed defense too. It’s very difficult to play with max effort on defense and not have it affect your offense.

Thoughts From the Third Deck, 2022-23 season final edition:
- if you're in Denver and can afford season tickets, get them. It's cheaper than buying a couple of finals game tickets, even if you just throw away the entire regular season. If you sell some games and earlier playoff rounds, you can make up quite a bit of the difference (I made back 54% of my season + playoff costs by selling about half of the regular season games and one round 1 and one round 2 game. I wasn't going to sell any finals tickets, but if I did sell just one game, the rest of the season would have been a net negative cost to me.)
- This was an ugly, ugly game in so many ways. The better 3pt shooting team hit 25.7%. We had 10 missed free throws and 14 turnovers. It takes an incredible amount of heart to win a game like that.
- the refs really f***ing sucked, like, unbelievably badly. And everyone in the building knew it, including Spo and the Heat, and including the refs themselves. No way they didn't know.
- I loved how MPJ responded to his shooting slump by attacking the glass and staying locked in defensively.
- DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS! There were so many mistakes this game, but everyone locked in defensively.
- Christian Braun. Winner.
- Rocky made his halfcourt backwards shot.
- I really appreciated the few DAJ minutes, and the fact that dude won a ring while CP0 and Blake haven't.
- Likewise really happy for Uncle Jeff, Ish, and Reggie
- Did I mention the refs were terrible? That challenge that didn't get overturned ... wtf
- WE MADE IT! Thanks rock for making this board. I may not have become as obsessed as I did if I didn't have this place to chat with you all. And thanks to all the friends and frenemies I've made along the way. The only victory lap I'm taking today is that the Nuggets are world champions, and all of us here get to celebrate in it together.
