Goddamn, that man Hellebuyck is a bad-man. Stone-cold killer. But seems like the Avs finally rattled him last night.

Georgiev was Swiss cheese in game 1 but he also got zero help. Last thing you want when your goalie is struggling is to give up breakaways, power plays, and own-zone turnovers and we did that constantly. Game 2 was better across the board.
Hopefully they can get Girard back soon. That bumps Manson, Walker, and Johnson down one spot each and Jones back out of the playoff rotation. Gives up a bit of size but drastically increases our puck skills and speed.

Once the 2nd period started, I thought Georgiev looked sharp and locked in.
Helped that Bednar stood by him after game 1.
Forgive me guys but I’m ignorant on the nhl - who’s supposed to come out of the west this year? Are we favored if our guys come back?

16-5 goal difference in three games is impressive, I'm not going to lie.
I wasn't expecting Winnipeg to get smoked in this manner.

I told a friend before the series that if the Avs get league average goaltending they're a serious threat to win it all. If they get end-of-regular-season Georgiev they're a first round out in 5 games or less. Thankfully that version of Georgiev only showed up for game 1, and in games 2-4 he was significantly better than league average.

Georgiev is looking like a stone-cold killer out there. Thankful that Bednar kept him, and helped his confidence - damn good coach.

Georgiev is looking like a stone-cold killer out there. Thankful that Bednar kept him, and helped his confidence - damn good coach. He literally had no choice. Annunen, the primary backup, was sick and unavailable for games 1 and 2. Prosvetov, the normal 3rd option, was also not available for game 1. If he had pulled Georgiev in game 1 a literal minor league goalie (Prosvetov's AHL backup) would've gone in, and in game 2 the only other option was Prosvetov who was horrible in the NHL this year and got sent down to the minors and swapped for Annunen in the first place.

Avs hung 28 goals in 5 games on what was the team that allowed the fewest goals in the regular season.
Outstanding stuff, and Georgiev once again turned in a good performance.

Landeskog skated with the team in a noncontact jersey some today. Still many steps to cross before he can even think about returning but it's the most positive step yet. We're about 16 days from the 1 year mark on his surgery, and that's the point he'll really ramp up and see what he's got in the tank. Truly anybody's guess as to whether we'll see him again this season. The emotional boost if he is able to take the ice again this postseason will be absolutely immeasurable. As much as Makar and MacKinnon are badass players and good leaders in their own respective ways, Landeskog is the unquestioned leader and living soul of this franchise.
But we did get some news on Drouin today. He has a bad cut on his thigh from a skate and he can't put on any equipment until the wound closes due to the risk of staph infection. He is aiming for a return towards the end of round 2 or the beginning of round 3, so if we take care of business next round we should get him back.
