Phil Jackson: 42-0 in series when his team wins game 1. Good luck. Boston: 32-0 when leading a series 3-2. Good luck Orlando. who is more valuable to their team jameer nelson or KG

Boston: 32-0 when leading a series 3-2. Good luck Orlando. who is more valuable to their team jameer nelson or KG it doesn't matter. the point is that past series have no bearing on current series. the 42 different series are independent of each other, and what happened in those series does not have an effect on this series. Its like saying I flipped a coin 42 times and it was heads every time. The next time I flip the coin there is still a 50% chance I don't get heads.

Your coin-flip analogy is completely false. The winners of playoff series are not determined randomly. Past success does indicate future success, because there's a REASON that he's 42-0 in those scenarios... it's not random. In fact, it could be suggested that past success could increase the likelihood of future success, since we're talking about human beings with emotions and mental issues.
I would ask the question though: how many of those 42 involved having Jordan or Shaq on his team? How many of them were against CLEARLY inferior teams (like the Jazz this year). Looking at the reasoning for the 42-0 stat will tell you how well it can be used as an indicator.

obviously its not a perfect analogy, as their are other variables, but the point still stands and you helped prove it: what phil did with the bulls and the kobe-shaq lakers has no bearing on this series. similar to how regular season games often dont affect the playoffs. LA was 4-0 against houston, but not in the playoffs.

So did anyone see what exactly happened on the inbounds play? Was a guard covering AC and then Odom was called over when they saw it was AC throwing it in. Regardless of what happened, terrible idea to have AC inbounding in case of that exact possibilty.
I really have no idea what to expect from game 2. Anything could happen and I wouldn't be too surprised.

Nuggets' Smith nursing a calf injury
As if the Nuggets' problems beating the Lakers weren't enough, injuries are starting to creep into the picture.
Both guard J.R. Smith and forward Kenyon Martin will play with ailments in Game 2. Smith said he has a calf strain and limped around the Los Angeles Clippers practice facility, where coach George Karl put his Nuggets through drills today.
Smith did not run during practice. He did some treadmill work beforehand and sat out much of the on-court session. Still, he says he'll be ready to go for Thursday night's game.
"I'm definitely going to play," Smith said. "I don't think nothing can keep me from this game. It's getting better. It's more of a calf strain than anything. I'm doing the right thing, just staying and getting extra treatment. I'll be ready for tomorrow."
Martin fractured his left ring finger during the Nuggets' loss, but is expected to play Thursday night. Also, Renaldo Balkman, who didn't play in the first game, is nursing a sprained ankle. He'll be available Thursday night.

Thank God it's just a calf injury, and not the knee. Kmart will play through anything, and I expect him to still be effective. Please...Please...play Balkman.

WWE moves event out of DenverWorld Wrestling Entertainment says it is moving its Monday night event to Los Angeles because of a conflict with the Pepsi Center in Denver. The Nuggets are scheduled to host the Lakers on Monday in Game 4 of the Western Conference finals, but WWE had previously booked the arena for an episode of Monday Night Raw. WWE chairman Vince McMahon said Staples Center called and offered use of its building and that his organization will return to Denver for an event at the Coliseum on Aug. 7. McMahon criticized Kroenke Sports, which owns the Nuggets and Pepsi Center, for not being more helpful when the conflict arose over the weekend. sports.espn.go.com/nba/playoffs/2009/news/story?id=4188189

I think the NUGGS are pissed they let game 1 get away and will rebound in game 2. They still have the confidence they are the superior team as they displayed for 46 minutes of the game.

In situations prior to this the Nuggets would probably just crumble mentally. I have complete and utter faith in Chauncey to get their heads right before this game.

There's a reason they play the games, guys. Each series has no bearing on the other. Sure, there are trends that form, but there is no way to confirm that the trends will continue. Each series is an independent event.
JR and KMart are warriors. I think we'll be fine. Do you think Cleveland is uber-worried about that last second loss? Hell no. Melo and Chauncey won't let us down. I don't know about GK, to quote someone I saw on another board, he looked like "he just walked in on his 15 year old daughter getting banged by some dumb ass kid".
