If the refs were truly concerned about deciding the outcome of the game, there is no way they let Denver get a 7 point lead more than halfway through the third quarter (on a Melo And-1 none the less). We got that lead in just a few quick possessions where the Lakers blew their own - the only way the referees avoid that is making calls so blatantly bad that even you wouldn't have the guts to write the above post. But that's fine. You seem to think we need to play perfect games in order to win - and you are entitled to having such opinion.

Ok just some stats on our refs tonight: Ron Garretson Monty McCutchen Tom Washington So, I don't know. It can go either way tonight. Denver seems to be liked better by these refs, so hopefully we can get some favorable calls. But then again, the home team wins a good percentage of the games for each of them, so we have to make sure we don't get into a situation where fouls will hurt us. Home team has a damn good record with these guys

I just think that we've gotten some calls this series as well that were crucial. And I think it's pathetic going to other teams' boards and see them b***h about the refs after every loss to the Nuggets. It's just a sad way of thinking.
Mav fans have a victim complex and Laker fans were actually talking "conspiracy" after Game 4. Conspiracy talk from Laker fans!!! Yes, believe it. I think/thought it was pathetic and I'm not going to go there for tonight.
Even though there was definitely some home cooking, I feel like our own dumb mistakes and poor shooting (once again) cost us more than the refs. There have been games when I thought the refs bailed out the Lakers, especially some games in that series against the Kings way back when, but just not tonight.

The Lakers did get the majority of 50-50 calls. But that's the NBA and it's not why we lost the game. You can't have the cake and eat it. If you say having Billups and Nene out are not "quantifiable" enough variables to justify claiming we lost the game because of them, then you cannot say that we DID NOT lose the game because of them. If they're not "quantifiable", then whether they cost us the game or not is at least UNDEFINED. Saying anything else is being contradictory. PS: And having Billups' "and 1" turned into a charge and Gasol's charge turned into Nene's foul, just to cite a couple of examples, were not "50-50" calls. They were very clear calls. Or should have been.

WE LOST BECAUSE OF BILLUPS AND JR
Ruru, stop being a b***h and beating around it. Lol. You`re saying its not because of the refs (agreed. me and u are typically on the same page), but its like you're afraid to admit why we lost because you don't want to deal with the backlash. Just say why we lost. Lol

If they're not "quantifiable", then whether they cost us the game or not is at least UNDEFINED. Saying anything else is being contradictory. What I intended to state as unquantifiable was the effect that particular calls made at particular junctures in the game. All calls, just as all plays, all moments, all dribbles, are in some way regardless of how marginal, perhaps by definition, quantifiable to an extent. Did Nene's 6 fouls have a major effect on the game? Yes, but it's not as if Nene's importance is drastically more than that of our other two bigs. If another one of our players fouled out we could point to his strong attributes, correlate them to the points in the game where the lack of those strengths was visible in a game sequence and claim that the officials intentionally called fouls on that player because THEY knew of the precise effect. Is your argument that the officials planned to foul out Nene and make bad calls against Billups, knowing that those two things would give the Lakers the win? Those two things, in context to all of the fouls, no -fouls, Denver's leads, seem entirely insufficient to RIGGING A GAME.

Chauncey's late third quarter mistakes changed the tide of the game JR's horrible shooting left us with no chance. I don't get my jollies of off these points. And it's not making you look better.

Melo should have been to the line 6-8 more times..... Nene played like a pussy and got called for pussy fouls.... Billups played like AI in the second half without the scoring.... JR sucked assholes...Is he steady enough to start next year??? I really dont know.... Martin missed like every shot since the 1st quarter or at least it seemed.... LK is the single worst defender in the NBA...
I thought Melo played well enough to win but I thought everyone else played like dipshit. THAT IS f***ing EVERYONE!!! The all sucked besides Melo.....I cant think of one person that played average.....
So nobody played good and we are blaming the refs...I am just happy it was that close....How much difference would Nene make?? He played like a pussy all night??
I am very disappointed in out teams effort.....There refs were bad but not bad enough to blame for the loss......IMO

When you lose, it's always for many reasons. Same when you win. It's not one thing or another because there's too much s**t that happens.
The officiating favored the lakers tonight, but there were opportunities that the nuggs couldn't find a way to seize. We got some open looks that didn't go down and made a few mistakes defensively that are pretty inexcusable in a big game like that. It wasn't a terrible game, but it certainly wasn't the nuggets best effort either.

KMart was knocking down that baseline J consistently but then couldn't finish near the rim at the end.

Us Cavs fans think the Nuggets got screwed tonight. We should of known that when Phil Jackson calls out the refs, they'll get all the calls the next game. Phil needs to face the reality that if they beat the Nuggets, they'll lose to the Magics if they make the Finals. I'm not counting out the Cavs nor the Nuggets yet. Both teams face elimination and will fight till the end. Good luck to the Nuggets. I hope you guys can support the Cavs just as we Cavs fans are supporting and for you guys to beat the Lakers. You guys are the better team in the west, but the east, the Magics seem to be killing the Cavs in closing seconds. We're in the same situation, kinda. We both lose in the closing seconds when controlling the game the entire time. So good luck to you guys. I respect the Nuggets and want them to win the west and possibly, the Finals. I want a Cavs/Nuggets finals.

Go to the Warriors board. They just think we played a stupid endgame. Same on Spurstalk. Our rep. on boards I visit is generally "Very talented but low BB IQ (except for Billups)".

The Cavs have their own problems (I still KNOW they will win the ECFs!!!)...but they know the Lake Show is BETTER!!

How the hell do I root for a weaker team? I live in Los Angeles and I hate my hometown team. Last year, I'm glad Boston beat the Lakers. This year, if the Nuggets beat the Lakers, they deserve to win it all. I'm a Cavs fan, but if the Lakers and Magics were to make the Finals, I'm going to root for the Magics even though they beat the Cavs. I am loyal to any team that can beat the Lakers. I'm not a bandwagon fan, I'm a drifter. I lean towards any team that can beat the Lakers. I think the Nuggets are the new Detroit Pistions of '04 when they beat the best Lakers team with Malone and Payton off the bench and Shaq still in his prime. I also like the Nuggets because Birdman is fucken cool.

You know I watched the whole game end to end and I don't know why people think JR had such a terrible game or KMart. They didn't have great games but KMart knocked down some shots and then couldn't finish near the end when our offense sucked like nothing else. JR didn't really have "dumb" possessions... he made some great passes to bigs who couldn't finish and he missed jumpers (as he has all series).
Maybe "terrible" games in the context of the season but not in the context of the series. JR hasn't had a good series at all.
